Dr. Lawrence Newman | Las Vegas Urologist

Dr. Lawrence Newman is a leading Las Vegas Urologist who received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, and completed his surgical internship and his urologic residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. During his residency, he participated in multiple research projects involving both bladder cancer and prostate cancer. He was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1994 and was most recently re-certified in 2013. In 2017, Dr. Newman was named a Top Doctor by Vegas Seven Magazine.

Dr. Lawrence Newman has been a Member of the Medical Executive Committee at Spring Valley Hospital for several years where he is also the Assistant Chief of Surgery. In addition, he was the Chief of Surgery at Lancaster Community Hospital in California for 10 years.

He practices general urology with a focus on benign prostate disease, prostate cancer, stone disease, as well as treatment for erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, and infertility. Dr. Newman is particularly interested in the many recent advances in the approach to screening for prostate cancer, new techniques in prostate biopsy, and stratification of patients who are found to have prostate cancer with newly available genetic testing.

Dr. Newman and his wife have three (mostly grown) children and they have lived in Las Vegas since 2007. He is an avid squash player, enjoys movies and hiking. His wife is an independent college counselor who helps high school students navigate the process of preparation for and application to college.

Dr. Newman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology.
